Living Alone and Poor Nutrition

Maintaining a healthy diet is never easy and if you live on your own it can be difficult to arrange healthy meals on a daily basis. Did you know that people who live on their own are more likely to have diets that lack vital nutrients? That’s why it’s important to plan your meals carefully and make sure to buy the right things when you go to the store. However, it’s also important to be realistic with yourself about your eating habits as you don’t want to end up with fridge of stuff you don’t like.

It can be so easy to get into bad habits as cooking after a long day at work can seem like too much of a take on. You might decide to buy a microwaveable meal to avoid the hassle of cooking a full meal.

One important think about is if you’re the type of person who prefers routine or variety. If you’re okay with routine it may be possible to prepare meals in advance, but if you need variety having the same meal every day will be difficult.

Try to get foods from every food group in your shopping and don’t forget to stock up on perishables.

Things like dry beans, canned fish, and canned beans can be used to make a wide range of quick and tasty meals. Find out more about how to shop for one person in the infographic.
