When it comes to maintaining emotional balance in our work place we are dealing with two different levels; external factors and internal factors.
Some aspects of our actual work environment may be stressful for us, maybe there is not enough light in the room we work in, possibly there is no air and we find it stuffy or maybe the air conditioning unit is straight over our head.
We have to do this thing called living* - why a f€&@ off attitude is essential to achieving your goals
Did you know that October 1 st is UN international day of older persons ? Quite a mouthful don't you think? And at what age are you considered an older person? My 17 year old might think that at 54 I'm ancient while my parents who are in their 80's think I'm still only a young one.
We are often told we cannot love others unless we first start to love ourselves.
The same can be said for having compassion. What is compassion for ourselves? It is opening to looking at a story in our life with new eyes if, for a long time we have condemned our real feelings and emotions around a story.
We often talk in hushed tones about when a parent favours one child over another. What do we do when a child favours one parent over another? Favouritism by a toddler is very common and can leave the rejected parent feeling neglected, lost and upset.
Enjoy this pod cast on how to become grounded with our emotions.
Our first and second chakras, our own personal energy centres, are very inter-related to each other. When we can learn to be just be with our stories and related emotions and to not let them consume us, we are better able to step into our personal power in all aspects of our life.
We are more in control. When stories come up for us in the future, which they will, we will have more of an ability to take the story for what it is and deal with it in a more emotionally mindful way that will give us a better result.
Some might be questioning why I would want to teach Yoga to individuals that are struggling with addictions, mental health problems or physical issues. It is surely more difficult to plan classes, deal with issues such as poor mental health and low self esteem.
Emotional abuse is, in my opinion, an overlooked problem that many people suffer with in silence. There is of course no blame in this as oftentimes emotional abuse is done in such subtle ways that the victim cannot find the words to describe it. There are no visible scars to show, just those of a deep emotional kind.
Today I was thinking that sometimes students looking to take up Yoga are overwhelmed with all the different types of Yoga types that are out there. So, I thought it best to explain briefly the main types of Yoga offered today. This is not an exclusive list and my advice would be to try a few different types and chose which one is suited to your needs. Be mindful how you feel after class as you want to enjoy the journey, whichever type of Yoga you decide to choose ;)
We can all have off days where we feel like we wished the ground would just swallow us up. However, we do not want to stay in this energy too long. Some people find it easier than others to snap out of more darker times in their lives. Judgements from well meaning people telling us to snap out of it are not helpful and, at times can add another layer of anxiety or shame.
Earlier this year I had attended the Galway Fashion Trail which was one of the highlights of my blogging life!! I have to admit though I did have some self esteem and confidence issues to deal with and feelings around "not fitting in". But what a difference a few months make to a girl's self confidence!
The word authentic is used so much these days in relation to being who we truly want to be. If we are working in the digital space our digital foot print reveals our authenicity. We often know whether or not we resonate with a person when we meet them in the more traditional off line networking sceanario. We may like the vocabulary they use and know that we could do business with them.
Mindset and being mindful are real buzz words at the moment and in my opinion, rightly so! Every time I get stopped in my tracks in the middle of a project, a conversation or anything that makes me shrink back into my shell, I know I am getting stuck in my mind.
“Each day has a color, a smell.” Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, The Mistress of Spices
Oh how true this quote is. We see this in nature all the time, each season with its own unique wonderful smells. The smell of a forest is quiet different after a shower of rain in winter than it is during a glorious hot summer day. Some people say they can smell rain before it actually comes!
